NAVY AND ORANGE FALL NANTUCKET WEDDING
Kate and Josh’s navy and orange Fall Nantucket wedding was a celebration that embodied the island of Nantucket and its’ surroundings! The bride wanted a “sailor’s valentine” inspired wedding logo, which we had never heard of! A sailor’s valentine is crafted from small seashells and in the 1800’s were often brought home by sailors as gifts for their loved ones! We loved how creative and symbolic this idea was. After researching some images we designed their wedding monogram in an octagonal shape of seashells, encompassing the couple’s first initials! The wedding logo was embossed at the top of the wedding invitations which were printed in gold foil, and edged in a bright orange. The reception card was die cut into the shape of a whale, giving a nod to the reception site; the Nantucket Whaling Museum. A basketweave pattern, which Nantucket is also known for, was used as the pattern for the envelope liner and throughout the wedding welcome bags! With the pattern and logo designed, we then designed goodies to welcome each guest to this destination wedding; custom waterbottle labels, door hangers, itineraries of the weekend festivities, and custom koozies! For the escort cards, we used the die cut whales in gold hand calligraphy with a sign reading, “Whale you be seated?” At the Nantucket Whaling Museum reception, tables were draped in navy and white striped linens and each place setting was dressed with a bright orange napkin and custom menus adorned with the couple’s wedding monogram. Another favorite paper good was the wedding programs; these were done on an orange cardstock, embossed with the wedding logo and tied with a navy and white striped grosgrain ribbon! Every element was well balanced and gave a nautical nod to the island of Nantucket.
